Signing of a MoU between JRDC and ISB
On July 26, 2024, at the Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) in Kurunegala, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to establish a strategic partnership between the China-Sri Lanka Joint Research and Demonstration Centre (JRDC) for Water Technology, the Ministry of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development in Peradeniya, and the ISB in the North Western Province.
The ISB established as a Statutory Body under the Provincial Council of North Western Province in 1990, has evolved into an autonomous Industrial and Business Development Service Provider based in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka.
The JRDC on the other hand, was established through a research grant from the Chinese government to the Sri Lankan government and offers services such as water testing, research facilities, consultancy and technology development, and training.
This partnership aims to create mutual benefits for both organizations by collaborating on chemical, microbiology, and heavy metal testing of water, food, and other environmental samples, joint research and development projects, training initiatives, and exploring education opportunities. Additionally, joint consultancy assignments and projects will be undertaken in Sri Lanka and overseas to support their sustainable development plans.
Moving forward, both organizations will leverage the physical resources, technical expertise, knowledge, experience, goodwill, network, and strengths of both organizations to provide a comprehensive service package for the benefit of Small and Medium Enterprises, corporate clients, and individual clients within Sri Lanka and overseas.
This partnership signifies a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities and services offered by both organizations, ultimately contributing to the economic development and industrial growth of the region.
