A delegation from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board NWSDB) visited RCEES, CAS

A delegation from the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWS&DB) under the MoWS & EID, Sri Lanka visited China from September 5-10, 2023 to deepen the collaboration and exchange in water technology development between China and Sri Lanka. On the 6th of Sep., the delegation participated in the “Seminar of China-Sri Lanka Collaboration on Water Technology Development” held at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES, CAS). The seminar, co-chaired by Prof. Min Yang and Eng. Ruwan facilitated a deep dialogue on the future direction and plans for cooperation. Both sides exchange the RCEES research activities and NWSDB’s research projects and the newly established CEWAS unit, emphasizing the importance of governance, resource recovery, energy conservation, and climate change adaptation, and propose promoting industrial involvement, academic exchange, education programs, and field research to enhance water quality monitoring and treatment capabilities in Sri Lanka in the next step cooperation.

 

Throughout their visit, the delegation toured Beijing Drainage Group Co. Ltd, Beijing Underground Wastewater Treatment Plant, and also visited the Concept Wastewater Resource Recovery Factory in Yixing to learn about China’s advanced technologies in urban water supply scheduling and wastewater treatment. This visit has laid a solid foundation for future China-Sri Lanka collaborations in water technology development, with both parties looking forward to continued engagement to jointly advance water technology and sustainable practices in both nations.
