Ceremony of Unveiling the JRDC Name Plate and the JRDC Research and Academic Council (RAC) Meeting

The China-Sri Lanka Joint Research and Demonstration Centre (JRDC) for water technology hosted a ceremony to mark the unveiling of its name board on the 25th of March 2024.  This momentous occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya; Prof. Yaping Zhang, the Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. L.K.S.U. Dharmakeerthi, the Additional Secretary (Development) Ministry of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development and numerous other distinguished guests. At the ceremony, Professors M.D. Lamawansa, Rohan Weerasooriya, Mr. A.C.M. Nafeel, Engineer Sarath Gamini, Professors Yuansong Wei, and Prof. Ming Yang received tokens of appreciation for their significant contributions in elevating JRDC from its inception to its present standing. Furthermore, the inaugural JRDC-UoP research grants were awarded upon five distinguished researchers associated with the University of Peradeniya, fostering collaborative research activities with JRDC. Grant recipients were Prof. Nadeeshani Nanayakkara (Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Faseeha Noordin (Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine). Dr. Athula Bandara (Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science), Dr. Subhashini Gunathilake (Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science) and Dr. Nadeesha Koralegedara (Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science). Following the ceremony, the first meeting of the JRDC Research and Academic Council (RAC) was convened, co-chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya and the Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
