CAS-UOP geological conference held in Beijing

Upon the invitation of the China-Sri Lanka Geological Research Center and Academician Zhai Mingguo at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, CAS, a geological delegation of six members, led by Prof. H.M.T.G.A Pitawala, Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Science of the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka visited China from October 10 to 18, 2023. During their stay, the delegation participated in the “International Seminar on Continental Crust Evolution and Early Plate Tectonics” and the “China-Sri Lanka Geological Cooperation Conference 2023 and Annual Meeting of China-Sri Lanka Geological Joint Research Center 2023”, both convened and hosted by Academician Zhai Mingguo’s team at the institute. Additionally, the Chinese and Sri Lankan scientists conducted joint field geological surveys, visiting Inner Mongolia’s Jining and Hohhot to inspect the North China Craton’s Archean ultrahigh-temperature granulites and related rocks.
